Can long layers help thick hair?!?!?

My hair is very thick and curly. I read in a hair magazine that having long layers helps take the bulk out of thick hair. Is this true?

Some say it is, and some say it isnt. So who's RIGHT?

Can long layers help thick hair?!?!?

They both are right. Depending on how your hair reacts and who cuts it. I have really thick hair..I went to get it cut; I wanted long layers because I didn't want to lose the length of my hair and I wanted others to notice my curls when I curled it. I wanted my hair to feel lighter due to this summer heat.

When I went to the salon all the lady heard was layers and lighter. She thinned out my hair which made tons and tons of layers but they are all different lengths so it is impossible to curl and because she cut so many layers my hair is super thick..and short.

I don't know what she was thinking. My hair is lighter but it's because it's gone.

Whatever you do or choose, whoever cuts your hair make sure they don't use a razor and say it's to create layers. No scissors can create even noticable layers..a razor creates split-ends and poofy uneven hair.

Can long layers help thick hair?!?!?

It might. But it might not with curly hair.

layers will definitely help.but make sure they cut it with shape of your head,or sometimes it can end up looking like a lampshade.

Long layers will help divide the weight line of your hair, making it lighter and easyier to work with. It also helps get rid of some of the bulk in your hair.
