Long thick curly hair change?

Hi all!

I am hoping to find an answer that will help me make a BIG choice. I have coarse, thick, curly hair. I am of Mediterranean decent (Italian) and have frustrating hair. right now I have my hair all one length and it is curly naturally in a past the shoulder bob. I am considering to get it cut into layers, but fear that I will end up with more of an afro then a style. Does anyone know if cutting curly (slightly tight curls) would calm my hair or end up making me look like a brunette version of bozo the clown? I am in a high end retail executive position and need to make sure I always look professional.

thanks for any feedback you can pass my way!!

Yes I think you should get layers it will look great on long hair get like 3 layers it will be much more easier to manage

If you want to try it out...if you look at walmart there are ethnic sections that have relaxers you could use them and it would make your hair straighter if you say that you have coarse, thick, curly hair because my hair is your like yours and i get an relaxer and it makes my hair alittle less curly and more manageable but still it has a pretty slicky curl.

ask a stylist to thin your hair and is it past your shoulders? if no then forget about getting it cut. get it V shaped in the back of it and dont get your hair done at Walmart get it done somewhere where there are actual professionals

My hair is similar but maybe not as curly, anyway the shorter I cut it the more poofy it gets.

hi i know what you mean i have the same type of hair. it can be really annoying. you should get layers. they make your hair less poofy and if you want to calm the curls in your hair you can always buy a leave in conditioner like sunsilk anti poof its great! or straighten it.

Ask the hair dresser to thin it out and after washing use a strong mousse and scrunch it into the slight curl you want and allow it to dry naturally it should look very pretty, if you tell the stylist what you want most of them will also help you achieve the result you want at home

GET Layers. It will soften the curl and weigh less. Plus the layers will frame your face.

I beg for layers on my curly hair. My hair is very heavy otherwise. You may even want to ask your stylist to thin you hair out. I take that back...I would insist on getting your hair thinned out with thinning shears.

Speaking from experience and love my curls...Do IT!
