How to get sleek, thick, straight hair?

My hair is naturally wavy, with terrible cowlicks at my temples and it's a bit frizzy as well ( I've been dying my hair for years). I'm dying to nail the "sleek hair" look: very thick hair, straight with a bit of volume at the top and sides, and somewhat shiny.

I've seen many girls with this look who have obviously color-treated hair, so it must be some secret I'm missing out on! Any help would be hugely appreciated.

If you want to do it cheeply...

If you hair is naturally wavy, try flipping your hair over after a shower and hair drying it. It adds volume and makes it straight.

To get rid of cowlicks, put a small amount of gel in the area of the cowlicks while you hair is wet and blow dry it like that.

To make hair more shiny, try using a bit of white vinegar with warm water after shampooing.

If you are willing to pay the price...

try tigihaircare.com. The BedHead products are fantasic and they've got something for just about every kind of hair styling.

Talk to a professional hair stylist at an upscale salon... they are very helpful and have great advice! Definitely better than people at Supercuts and Great Clips...

Good luck! :)

You could straighten your hair, or use different hair cream/gel/shampoo. You can buy sleekening stuff at drug stores.

They probably got their hair relaxed. Anyone could get their hair relaxed from a price range of $80-400. Also, make sure you get your hair colored professionally, and never use those Albertson's hair coloring products. I got my hair colord brownish-red and it was $100 total but then it worked out very well, and had a sleek shining finish. Buy a John-Frieda Hair Serum and dab it over soaking wet hair right after shower. My hair has been improving after that.

herbal essence's pin straight shampoo and conditioner, frizz-ease smooth start spray, pureology nanoglaze styling creme, blow dry it completely and straighten it realllly well and then spray ojon's shiny stuff onto your hands and run them through your hair, avoiding your roots. turn your head upside down and use tresemme's volumizing spray stuff on the roots sparingly. throughout the day i have to reuse the volumizing spray and continuously flip my hair upside down and kind of shake it up with my fingers, to keep it voluminous.

that's what i have to do - i have naturally thick, wavy hair that is RIDICULOUSLY hard to do anything with. like, it won't hold a curl from a curling iron, period. when i do this, though, it adds inches onto my hair's length and keeps it straight through the day, with a little volume at the roots so it doesn't just hang there. good luck!

I suggest start using good salon products to moisturize your hair first and deep conditioning. Any salon products that Hydrate the hair or that sat for color treated hair will do. Next to get your hair sleek and smooth buy a CHI straightener, do your hair in small sections. Your hair will be shiny and smooth. Experiment with the CHI until you get the look you desire, the original CHI or CHI turbo is what I have. The only difference I have notice is the CHI turbo keeps my hair smooth looking longer. THE CHI is pricey from 100-200. BUT as you someone with the frizzy wavy hair its worth EVERY PENNY.

My secret is Biosilk Silk Therapy, by Farouk. I love it. You can find it in pretty much and salon. It is a bit pricey, but so nice. The new Herbal Essences shampoo and conditioner, None of Your Frizz-ness really works to eliminate frizz, and then after blow-drying but before using the straightener spray some Herbal Essences Dangerously Straight Flat Out Finishing Spray. It makes your hair smell nice, and really adds that little bit of shine. Then, when you're all done, put a little bit of John Frieda Brilliant Brunette Satin Shine finishing creme. Even if you are not brunette, I think it still works. Dab a little on the ends, not too much near the roots or it may make your hair look greasy. But that will help over time to get rid of the frizz. I had my hair chemically straightened, and it helped with the straightening, but it just killed my hair and made it impossible to comb, but after a while using these products, I think my hair is back to the way it was before.

maybe you are using the wrong hair dye.....

maybe you are using the wrong shampoo

maybe you are using the wrong hairstyling products

go get your hair dyed professionally perhaps the next time you are in need of having it dyed....... also have them style it......

maybe its time to buy a new and good hair dryer, curling iron(s), straightener.........

etc etc.......

for styling products and shampoos.......... try Garnier Frutis and the Aussie lines........ both are reasonable in price and work pretty well from my experience
