How to make my thick thick hair thinner?

My hair is mid back when its straightened. Its frizzy/curly/poofy when its natural (biracial). It's REALLY REALLY thick too. Like a handful of my hair is half of most peoples hair.

How can I make it thinner? Some people say get it layered, can anyone find a good picture of a layered cut?

when you get your hair cut have you ever asked then to thin your hair??? my hair is really thick too... and every time i get it cut i have them thin it out... it really helps out on my head and i think it will on your head too...

if not that layers might work... but i am getting tired of always getting layers in my hair... some of them are to short and the rest are too long... but if your hair is as thick as you say it is, layers might be the solution for you...

my hair is thick too, I don't know how I found this out but one day I wanted to thin my hair, I heard a razor blade worked well but I didn't have one.... so I got my succors and opened them all the way (both points sticking out like a line) and went picked a section of my hair and glided the open succors through my hair (while pressing the scissors hard through my hair), it worked really well for me, now my hair is thinner and moves more =]... I don't really know how to describe that well, but maybe it gives you an idea on how to do it yourself?? good luck!!
