What to do with thick curly hair?

I have extremely thick semi-long curly hair. I straighten on most days because I don't know what to do with it. But, on the days when I don't, it's so frustrating and I don't know what to do with it. A lot of people tell me to wear it down, but it's really poofy and it looks terrible! Any ideas on what I can do with it?

where do you live? In Toronto Ontario, there's this place called the Curly Hair Institute. It's owned by this guy Jonathan Torch. He has great advice and amazing hair product.

I went to the Institute because I have thick, frizzy, curly hair and Jonathan worked miracles!!! He;s amazing!!!

Check out the website:

Put it into a pony tail or a bun!

when you take a shower, dry your hair all the way after. the later you could straighten it, then take a curling iron a make some soft waves around you face. i think straightening it before you style it will help the thickness and poofyness. you can also curl it with the straightener. or you could find a cool updo!

A flat iron the one I use is by maxiglide http://www.maxiusbeauty.com/category.php...

I got package four because it has a big flat iron with the pins on the plates to straighten and detangle at the same time. It has some good products that help keep my hair straight. There is a new process out that lasts up to 6 months its called thermal reconditioning which is becoming increasingly popular. From all the information currently available, it is an amazingly effective process, and a rather expensive one. I've seen prices ranging from $200-800 or more depending on the location. http://www.hairboutique.com/tips/tip1104... http://thermalreconditioning.blogspot.co...
