My hair is really thick and I've been wanting a short cut. But I've heard that sometimes it turns out bad... I really dont know what to do! I've found so many cute short styles I love, I just dont know if they'll work with my hair type.

have you thought about getting some of the thickness taken out. they can cut your hair whereas your hair want be as thick. i would try that first.

I have super thick and wavy hair and when I got mine short...it looked like a helmet head! I got it too layered....which adds thickness and also too long on top, so it was really big.

I think that if you get it cut short then you need to go REALLY short...like winona ryder used to have hers...a proper elfin cut, as short as you dare.

Actually, short is better for that kind of hair, easier to maintain. What you want is to get it layered. Otherwise if all the hair is the same length, you'll get the pyramid effect, not good.

to be honest when you have unruly curly hair you are better having it long as the weight of the hair then pulls the curls down making it look like actual nice curls, short hair tends to make this hair type look frizzy and like a poodle to be honest. you are better to just invest in some good styling products like john frieda frizz ease serum and love your beautiful bouncy curls :-)

Well a few years ago I got a bit hacked of about my long dark hair I happened to have it if a pony tail at the time and just chopped the tail off, the shock waves that followed were a sight to behold but after Ron my hubby trimmed it all up it went into hundreds of curls, when they got over the shock everyone loved it, I just felt a bit naked without it so I grew it back took a couple of years but its back down to my waist now.

Why don't you think about it some more, maybe have a word with a hairdresser about the type of styles your kind of hair and face could take, above all don't rush it, but it is your hair and your decision.

I've got very thick, naturally curly dark hair. I've had it long and in a bob for many years, but a couple of years ago I went very short. It's cut right into the back of my neck, and is a bit longer at the sides - I usually put the sides back with some pretty clips or a headband. My hairdresser uses thinning scissors and my hair feels so light and healthy (whereas when it was longer it used to look and feel very bulky!). I love it - it's so much easier maintaining it and my hair looks shinier when it's shorter.

Only problem is I don't think I'll ever have the patience to grow it again!

your hair is perfect to take a real short cut, much better than other hair types, the only thing to judge when picking a short style is your face shape and bone structure, then go for it

NO WAY! dont try it.. my sister has excatly the same hair as you, and she went to the best hairdresser in town.. and it didnt end up good.. you should only cut ur hair really short if you have straight hair.. or if you can regularly blowdry it! please dont do it!! it takes ages to grow back! x

i have super thick curly hair often mistaken as a perm which i hate! any hairdresser that i have been to suggests that i keep it long. why dont you go bit short and if you like it go shorter. id love 2 go shorter but it wud just look out of control! just depends on how wavy your hair is i guess. go 4 it!
